Dr. Michelle P. Pointer, CRC, NCC, LCPC is a full Professor and former Department Chair in the Department of Psychology, Counseling and Behavioral Health in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. She has a Doctorate degree in Counseling (George Washington University), master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling (Bowie State University) and a bachelor’s degree in psychology, (Fisk University). Post-Doctoral education is in Counseling (Group Counseling and Family Counseling at Bowie State University).
She holds an American Counseling Association Child and Adolescent Counseling Academy certificate in Counseling Teens and is nationally certified (National Certified Counselor/NCC; Certified Rehabilitation Counselor/CRC) and state licensed to practice clinical counseling in Maryland (Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor/ LCPC). She is a member of the American Counseling Association and a member of two editorial boards: Journal of Behavioral Social Sciences, and Journal of Rehabilitation Administration.
Additionally, Dr. Pointer is a founding member of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) and has served on numerous committees and continues her service to the university and community. She has served in leadership positions in national professional organizations, and presented at local, state and national conferences. She is a former State Director, regional director, district office supervisor for the Division of Rehabilitation Services and has organized state and national conferences. Dr. Pointer has received various awards, published widely in her field, and serves on two editorial boards. She completed the one-year program with Online Learning Consortium (OLC) Program and received the Certificate in.
